Here we go again! Future Hero Cave is our second cheese incarnation. Some folks might remember us from back in the day as Punk Rawk Labs. We’re older and wiser now. A little more wear and tear. A little battle tested. Maybe a few wrinkles. We have earned a solid foundation in cheesemaking. Now it’s time to push the envelope.
The world of plant based cheese is wide open with possibilities. This time, we’re doing it for the love of cheesemaking.

What’s With The Name?
Well since you asked, we’ll explain. The F with the bubbles is for Fermentation, of course. An oft overlooked superpower. It’s also for the Future as in putting a new twist on something familiar. Last but not least, everyone knows that superheroes work on developing their future technologies in their super hero caves. It’s an interesting (non) coincidence that caves are also associated with the 8000 year old tradition of cheesemaking (the inspiration for our cheese). Now the dots are starting to connect. Meet Our Cheesemaker

Alissa Barthel
Alissa Barthel is a cheesemaker, microbiologist, and real life Asian Warrior Princess.
She was inspired to replace dairy while recovering from a health crisis stemming from an autoimmune disease which developed after a toxic exposure.
Her first cheese business, Punk Rawk Labs, was based in Minneapolis but sold cheese nationally. The business started spontaneously after a car crash. The cheese began as a physical therapy project which quickly gained national exposure. It went on to develop a loyal audience over the decade it was on the market.
Currently, she is on semi-hiatus caring for her mom with Alzheimer’s and embracing the opportunity to explore new frontiers in plant based cheese and wellness.
She is grateful to have found her purpose serving this vibrant community.
